Artist Biography

Roy E. Hughes is an artist living in Snohomish, Washington. He works in both traditional mediums such as oils, acrylics, and watercolors and digital art. Since 2004 he has focused on digital art.

He created a form of digital art that he calls "digital block prints" which look like old woodblock prints or silk screen artwork. These works resemble the old travel posters of the 1920s and 1930s.

Recently he has been creating digital paintings as well. He uses a digital stylus to "paint" digital "brush strokes" onto a digitizing tablet built into a computer monitor. The resulting digital paintings closely resemble traditional oil paintings.
